Annual Report

A record of
each year,
published openly.

The Annual Report is the foundation's principal yearly disclosure — a comprehensive document that combines a narrative review of our work, our audited financial summary, and our complete IRS Form 990-PF. It is published once per year, free of charge, and requires no subscription.

Inaugural Annual Report
For Fiscal Year 2026

The T. James Foundation was incorporated in 2026, and our inaugural fiscal year is ongoing. Our first Annual Report — covering the foundation's founding year, its inaugural giving cycle, and its initial governance practices — will be published in spring 2027, following the close of the fiscal year and the completion of our independent audit.

Until that publication, the most current view of the foundation's work is available on the Impact & Disclosures page.

What's Inside

The shape of
each year's report

Every Annual Report follows the same structure. We hold ourselves to this format because predictability — across years and across reporting cycles — is a discipline that protects partners, supports peer review, and resists the temptation to highlight only what looks favorable.

i.

Letter from the Founder

An honest, plain-language note from the founder reflecting on the year's work — what advanced, what stalled, what the foundation got wrong, and what we are committing to differently next year.

ii.

Year in Review

Narrative coverage of the year's grantmaking, organized by program area. Includes partner highlights, new commitments, renewals, and any sunset relationships.

iii.

Grants List

The complete list of grants paid during the fiscal year, with grantee name, program area, grant amount, term, and grant type. Published in alphabetical order, without preferential framing.

iv.

Financial Summary

A condensed view of the foundation's financial position — assets, liabilities, grantmaking, operating expenses, and investment performance. Drawn from our independently audited financial statements.

v.

Form 990-PF

The complete Form 990-PF filed with the Internal Revenue Service for the fiscal year, included as an integrated section of the report. This is the same document the IRS requires every private foundation to publish.

vi.

Governance & Trustees

Updates to the Board of Trustees, governance practices, conflict-of-interest disclosures, and any material changes to the foundation's bylaws or operating procedures.

vii.

Partner Reflections

Anonymous partner survey results, including the specific question we ask each year: where did the foundation get in your way? We publish what we hear, including the parts we did not want to.

viii.

Looking Ahead

A brief preview of the coming year — including any planned changes to programs, governance, or operating practices that partners and the public should anticipate.

A note when the
report is published

Every Annual Report is published openly on this page when it is ready — no subscription required to read it. If you would like a brief email when the inaugural report goes live in spring 2027, write to us at office@tjamesfoundation.org with the subject line "Annual Report — notify me."

We do not maintain a marketing list, do not sell or share email addresses, and will not contact you for any other purpose. The note will arrive once. If you change your mind in the meantime, a single reply is sufficient to remove your name.
